The Buteyko Breathing Method is named after Ukrainian Doctor, Konstantin Buteyko.

Dr Buteyko noticed his patients with the worst breathing patterns had poor health outcomes and those with healthier breathing patterns had better recovery. Dr Buteyko questioned ‘Is disease driving the breath, or is the breath driving disease?’

The Buteyko Method consists of a series of breathing exercises and guidelines specifically designed to support healthier breathing.

Buteyko focuses on nose breathing and learning to breathe light and low in the body (in line with our metabolic needs).

People who experience asthma, heart disease, anxiety, depression, sleep apnea or chronic pain and/or those who talk for a living (teachers, salespeople etc.) frequently breath at increased rates around 15-20 breaths per minute and at volumes 2-3 times considered normal.

The Buteyko Breathing Method can help you understand breathing science and support you to restore healthy, functional breathing patterns and transform your health and wellbeing.
